MIGRAINES AND HEADACHES

A migraine can cause severe throbbing pain or a pulsing sensation, usually on one side of the head. It's often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and extreme sensitivity to light and sound. Migraine attacks can last for hours to days, and the pain can be so severe that it interferes with your daily activities. Medications can help prevent some migraines and make them less painful but there are other treatment options that can be offered. BOTULINUM TOXIN, also known as Botox injections are a popular in the treatment of headaches. These can be discussed and determined with our pain specialist.

SPINAL PAIN

Back pain can occur anywhere in the upper, middle, or lower back. It refers to pain originated in your spine. It can involve damaged vertebra, muscles/ligaments, nerves, and blood vessels. There are a number of treatment options for this type of pain which can be discussed with our pain specialist. We will coordinate your care with other specialists like surgeons, physiotherapist, chiropractors.

MUSCULOSKELETAL PAIN

Musculoskeletal pain refers to pain in the muscles, bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, and nerves. This pain can be over one area or throughout your body if you have a widespread condition like fibromyalgia. For focal pain, radio frequency treatment of regenerative medicine is available to you. The treatment you receive is based on what’s causing your pain. Treatment options are broken down into several types and are discussed in detail with our pain specialist.

VISCERAL PAIN

Visceral pain is the pain you feel from your internal organs, such as your stomach, bladder, uterus, or rectum. It is a type of nociceptive pain, which means that is caused by medical conditions that produce inflammation, pressure, or an injury. Visceral pain may respond to pain medications, but there are considerations to keep in mind and some cases where a more aggressive approach is needed. This will be determined with our pain specialist.

CANCER PAIN

Cancer pain is a common complication of cancer diseases. Because of the chronic and progressive nature of the disease, cancer pain is a common cause of chronic pain. Cancer pain results from tissue damage – either due to the disease itself, or due to treatment (chemotherapy, radiotherapy). Treatment for cancer pain will vary between patients, as different patients may experience different levels of pain even if they have the same form of cancer.  The treatment plan will be determined with our pain specialist and can include a multitude of options. 

NEUROPATHIC PAIN

Neuropathic pain results from damage to or dysfunction of your nervous system. This results in damaged or dysfunctional nerves misfiring pain signals. This pain seems to come out of nowhere, rather than in response to any specific injury. It can also be a complications form injuries or stroke. If you suffer of neuropathic pain, you may feel pain in response to things that aren’t usually painful, such as cold air or clothing against your skin. The different treatment options will be determined with our pain specialist.

NERVE COMPRESSION PAIN

Nerve compression pain occurs when a nerve is squeezed or compacted. It typically occurs at a single location. Nerves in the torso, abdomen, neck, limbs, and extremities may be affected. Common symptoms include pain, numbness, and muscle weakness at the site of the nerve and is often caused by repetitive injuries. Nerve entrapment can be confusing and a series of interventions may be required before we figure the cause o the pain.
